Due to the recent media attention on Heads' of Charities salaries, VCS would like to confirm that our founding member and Chief Executive, Marcella Finnerty, does not and has never drawn any salary or expenses from VCS, although involved in the day-to-day management of the Service. In addition, we wish to confirm that no member of our Board of Management is drawing or has ever drawn any salary or expenses from VCS.
We wish to assure our clients, therapists, funders, staff and stakeholders that any grants or monies we receive go directly to providing counselling to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. With over 1,500 new clients placed in 2013, and over 12,000 client sessions provided, the support you all give on a daily basis, and so willingly, is essential. VCS would like to sincerely thank you for your unswerving loyalty, hard work, commitment and dedication throughout our ten years. It is our collaborative efforts that have made VCS a brand associated with the highest quality service provision and the gold standard nationally and internationally. The American Counseling Association's Journal of Counseling & Development in its July 2012 issue, noted the work we do and suggested that the service offered by VCS provides a model which, "…if followed more generally….could provide counseling for those who otherwise could not afford it." The work of VCS is noted in a similar vein by ACA in their 2013 book on international counselling.
